Unidentified miscreants attack Corporator

Two motorcycle-borne youths attacked Dandapani Nayak, corporator of ward number 10, with sharp weapons near his resident in Rangunibandha street and fled the scene, they said.

Nayak was immediately admitted in the MKCG Medical College Hospital here and then shifted to a hospital at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

Though the exact cause of the attack was yet to be ascertained, police ruled out political rivalry behind the attack.

"I don`t think political enmity was the cause of the attack," said SP (Berhampur) Shafeen Ahmed K adding investigation was in progress and the truth would come out soon.
