Two siblings drown while bathing in river in Gajapati

Gajapati: In a tragic incident, two minor children, reportedly brother and sister drowned while bathing in a river near Sub-station Sahi in Mohana of Gajapati district this morning.

The deceased duo has been identified as Soumya Sualsingh (6) and Bishnu Sualsingh (3).

According to sources, the children were bathing along with their mother in Domuhani river when they slipped into the deep waters.

“I was washing clothes when the kids were playing at a few feet away from the bank in the river. When I found my daughter Soumya drowning in the river, I jumped in to save her. But I could not trace her. After I came back to the bank, I found my son missing,” informed the mother of the kids.

When she called for help, locals reached the spot and fished out the two siblings from the river. The kids were admitted to the Mohana Community Health Centre (CHC) where doctors declared them brought dead.
