Rourkela: At least two employees of a private spinning mill were injured and properties worth crores were gutted as a devastating fire broke out at a factory premises on Friday, police said.
 
The incident took place at Ashok Multi Yarn Limited, a private sector spinning mill located at Kirei on the outskirts of Sundargarh town, about 120 km from here.
 
Three fire tenders from Sundargarh and Jharsuguda, took three hours to control the fire.
 
The fire had, initially, broken out at 8:30 am today but it was brought under control. But the blaze broke out again at 2:30 pm and caught a building, a preparatory unit, in the factory.
 
As many as 50 labourers present inside the mill, when the mishap broke out, were rescued safely. However, two labourers got injured and fainted inside the factory due to fire and smoke. The duo was rushed to Sundergarh hospital for medical assistance.
 
The injured employees were stated to be out of danger. But machineries and raw material worth 2.5 crores were gutted in the fire.
 
Though the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the fire broke out as a result of short circuit.
