Two children killed in fire

Berhampur: Two children of a family were killed and two others seriously injured when a fire broke out in their thatched house at K Nuagaon near Chikiti in Ganjam district, police said today. The fire took place last night when the children were asleep in the makeshift thatched house and their parents were working outside it, said Chikiti sub-divisional police officer, B N Dehuri.

The dead, a 11 year-old girl and her seven year-old brother succumbed at the hospital, while the condition of other two children of the family, who too sustained burn injuries, was stated to be out of danger by the hsopital authorities. All the victims were identified to belong to the same family and hail from Kurulumela village of Bolangir district. The family was working in a brick-kiln at K Nuagaon.
