Bhubaneswar: Shiva shrines across the State were crowded with kanwariyas today on occasion of third Somvar of the holy month Sharvan.

Devotees thronged the shrines in large numbers to pour holy water on Shiva lingas. As per the belief, wishes get fulfilled by offering prayers to Lord Shiva on Shravan Somvar.

Special arrangements were made at the Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar, Lokanath temple in Puri, Kapilash temple in Dhenkanal and Vedavyas in Rourkela in view of the congregation.

As many as 30,000 kanwariyas reached Loknath temple where the temple administration had taken special measures to ensure a smooth darshan.

"I am grateful to the Lord since we managed to offer prayers and get his blessing on this auspicious day," said a kanwariya from Chhattisgarh.

Manager of the Loknath Temple Trust informed that waterlogging issue being faced since Saturday night on the temple premises has been sorted out.

Long queues of saffron clad Bol bom devotees carrying their offering were seen outside the Lingaraj temple since wee hours today.

"We fetched water from the Gadagadia ghat and walked a long distance to reach here. Finally l feel blessed to have got the darshan of Lord Lingaraj," a devotee at the Lingaraj temple said.

The temple authorities had opened the temple doors since 4 am today to facilitate a smooth darshan. As many as 15 platoons of police were deployed at the temple premises to maintain law and order situation.
