Puri: The identity of the half burnt body of the girl which was recovered yesterday near a canal at Samarai Sasan village under Balanga police limits in Puri was established today, police said.
Similarly, police arrested the main accused of the heinous crime before registering a case under Sec- 302 and 201.
The deceased was Kumuduni swain of Ghusurikhal village under the same police station while the accused, Satyanarayan Pradhan alias Pupun, who had a love affair with the girl belongs to Balanga Bidasahi of the district, police sources revealed.
“ We have registered a case against accused Satyanarayan at Balanga police station under Sec-302 and 201 of IPC and waited for the post mortem report for further information”, Puri SP Anup Sahu said.
Police revealed the fact after the father of the deceased, Surendra Swain, identified the charred body of his daughter. He traced his daughter from the slipper, dress and mehendi the victim wears.
“Pupun murdered my daughter after eloped away with her. He had always been threatening her not to make her marriage anywhere”, Surendra swain, the victim’s father, said.
However, the entire episode took a new turn after the victim’s father admitted the love affair of his daughter with the accused. Even he told police that Kumudini had eloped away with Pupun since Thursday night. Such statement of the deceased’s father has put the police in duck while cops have waited for post mortem report to explore further information.
Notably, police on Friday recovered the semi burnt body of the girl besides a canal near Samarai village. The locals first traced the body near the water body and informed the police who seized it before sending for post mortem.
