Berhampur: Hours after CBI reportedly served notices to two BJD leaders in connection with the chit fund scam; Odisha Police today issued notices to two BJP leaders-Golak Mohapatra and Bhrugu Buxipatra in connection with the brutal murder of Chhatrapur councillor, Laxmidutta Pradhan in 2017.

Chhatrapur SDPO, Ramesh Chandra Sethi informed that both the BJP leaders have been asked to appear on two separate dates on February 7 and 9.

When asked, BJP leader Golak Mohapatra said that he is yet to receive any notice from the police. However, the act clearly shows that the ruling-BJD has done it intentionally after two of its leaders were summoned by CBI in connection with the multi-crore chit fund scam, he said.

“It is completely vindictive. I have not received any police notice and will present my stand after getting one,” said Mohapatra.

It is pertinent to mention here that Chhatrapur councillor from ward no 6, Laxmidutta Pradhan was brutally hacked to death in front of his residence on September 16, 2017.

Following investigation, police had then arrested over 15 persons in connection with the murder case. Earlier, BJP leader Golak Mohapatra was also quizzed for his alleged links with one of the key accused in the murder case.
