Cuttack: The father and uncle of the Pipili rape victim have filed affidavits before the Justice P K Mohanty Commission probing the case, while another witness submitted an additional affidavit to the panel seeking protection to the witnesses.

Kabuli Behera, father of the 19-year-old victim, and his younger brother Babuli filed their affidavits before the Commission through their advocates on Saturday.

In the affidavits, they explained as to how the dalit girl was subjected to mental and physical torture ever since her friend was molested at Arjunagada village under Pipili police station in 2008, in which she was a witness. Meanwhile, advocate Nishikant Mishra, appealed to the Commission seeking protection saying he was being constantly threatened for appearing before it.

In an affidavit before the Commission earlier, he had alleged that Pipili police were habitual offenders in not registering FIRs and were influenced by ruling party leaders.

In his additional affidavit, he said his house under Pipili police station was attacked on the night of March 25 allegedly by supporters of the local BJD MLA and the police did not come to his rescue despite repeated pleas.

He also alleged before the Commission that he has been falsely implicated by Pipili police recently in a criminal case only to desist him from appearing before the Commission. Mishra has also brought this to the notice of the High Court through a writ petition.

The Commission accepted Mishra`s additional affidavit and posted the matter to be heard on April 21. The Commission in the meantime has also extended the deadline of inviting the affidavits to April 20 as only nine affidavits have till now reached the Commission.
