Bhubaneswar: One ultra was killed in an exchange of fire between security personnel and Maoists at Nakamamudi forest near Balimela in Malkangiri on Sunday.

Acting on tip off, Balimela police SoG jawans and DVF began their search on Saturday night and reached the camp Maoist camp during the wee hours of Sunday. The Security forces killed a Maoist in an encounter and recovered arms and ammunitions.

According to reports, the security personnel suspected that the Red rebels had laid landmines in the nearby area that led to the delay in security personnel reaching the spot.
