Odisha farmers launch night-long dharna demanding price, pension, prestige

Cuttack: Demanding price, pension and prestige, farmers under the aegis of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) sat on dharna the entire night on Wednesday at Pasupatigada under Tangi block of Cuttack district.

"We are protesting for the past 9 years demanding demand respect, social security and adequate provisions for farmers" said Akshay Kumar, Convener of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan.

"We demand that the farmers should be provided pension and a provision in the State budget should be made for the same," Akshay further added.

Though police reached the spot and held discussions, the agitating farmers continued their agitation.
