Koraput: An angry mob killed a bear after it went on an attacking frenzy, killing at least two persons at a village in Odisha's Koraput district, forest officials said today.
 
"The villagers attacked the bear on Saturday. The bear succumbed to its injuries. After autopsy, the carcass was buried," said forest range officer (Semiliguda) Gouri Prasad Rath.
 
Sources said the wild bear sneaked into Ghatiguda village on Friday and went on attacking villagers passing through the forest area near the village. While two persons died on the spot, as many were taken to a hospital with injuries.
 
Angry over the incident, a group of villagers armed with sticks and stones reached the forest on Saturday, traced the bear and attacked it.
 
"We don't have bear in the area. The animal had strayed into our territory from Maliput forest of Andhra Pradesh," the official said.
 
On May 5, an angry mob had killed a wild bear after it killed at least eight persons at Andramuda forest under Kotpad forest range in Koraput district.
