Sambalpur: A rape victim and that too a minor from village Jharpur under Siridi panchayat has given birth to a baby boy. The incident has sent flutters in the Siridi panchayat and its nearby areas.

The prematured baby and its mother were first admitted to the nearby Kuchiknda hospital. However, the duo were later shifted to the Sambalpur Sadar hospital for better care. It was alleged that the minor girl was sexually assaulted by one Niranjan Magar from her village. The accused Niranjan has been in jail after his arrest by the local police.
