Bolangir: After reports of a jaundice outbreak emerged, Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak visited Bolangir to take stock of the situation yesterday. Nayak conducted a door-to-door visit in the affected areas and interacted with the general public on various issues faced by them.

Nayak also went to the special jaundice ward of the district headquarter hospital and the ‘Niramaya (free medicine outlet)’ medicine store.

"The elected representatives are taking steps like making arrangement for alternative drinking water and I expect the situation to be under control," said Nayak adding that State-level teams from Urban Development and Health department are stationed here to take stock of the situation on a daily basis.

He also conducted a meeting with the collector, municipal authorities, and other concerned senior officials and reviewed the preventive measures taken to tackle the spread of the water borne disease.

Meanwhile, the administration has decided to undertake repairing work of old pipelines and replace the old pipelines in a phased manner.
