Met Issues Orange Alert For Several Districts Of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall and issued Orange Alert for several districts of the State for the next two days.

In a special weather bulletin, the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has asked administrations of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Puri and Ganjam districts to stay prepared for heavy to very heavy rainfall activity.

The Met department has also predicted heavy rainfall for isolated places over the districts of Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Cuttack tomorrow.

Similarly, light to moderate rainfall will continue at all other places across the State under the impact of the Low Pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Odisha WestBengal coasts along with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level.

For September 5, the weatherman has forecast Orange Alert for 3 districts Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Kalahandi. While Yellow Warning has been predicted for Koraput, Kandhmal, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Sundargarh, Bargarh and Jharsuguda districts, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the rest of the districts.

After two days, the intensity of rainfall is likely to reduce with possibility of heavy rainfall only in isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Naupada, Kendrapara, Dhenkenal, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj on September 5.

No warning apart from forecast of Light to moderate rain or probability of thundershower at places over the districts of North Odisha and at a few places of south Odisha have been predicted on September 6.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast and west-central adjoining North Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours in view of the inclement weather.
