Bhubaneswar: The Odisha-Jharkhand inter-state coordination committee meeting to curb illegal theft of minerals along the border areas would be held on Friday at Chainbasa of Jharkhand. The Home Secretaries of both the States will preside over the meeting, sources said adding some other top officials including the director of mines and top officials of commerce and transport department will take part in the meeting.
 
The meeting is likely to feature more plans to be chalked out to curb illegal mining in areas bordering two states. Besides, the achievements since the August 2012 meeting which was hosted by Odisha in Keonjhar, will be assessed in the meeting.
 
According to a senior official, the first such meeting was held on February 2 last year.
 
The officials will also delve into issue like strengthening the power of the enforcement squad which was constituted under director of mines to conduct regular raids on illegal mining. Special emphasis may also be laid on checking illegal mining through railway and other means of transportation.
