Bhubaneswar: With less than a week’s time remaining for the verdict Odisha 2019 to be declared on May 23, veteran politician and senior BJP leader Damodar Rout today make a prediction that no political party in the State will attain the magic number of 73 required to form the next government in Odisha. The State will again witness an alliance government in 2019, claimed Rout.
“BJD will win more than 60 seats but will fail to attain the magic number. BJP will win 50 -55 seats and Congress to win 25-30 seats. As none has the magic numbers on their side, alliance government is the only way forward,” said Damodar Rout and added that BJP will win 30 assembly seats from coastal Odisha, which has 73 assembly seats.
He further predicted a BJP win in coastal Parliament seats like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur. “BJP will win 13 -14 Lok Sabha seats this time in Odisha,” claimed Rout.
However, Dr Rout refuses to make any prediction on the Balikuda – Ersama assembly constituency, the seat from where he has contested 2019 elections.
“It is hard for me to assess the outcome of Balikuda-Ersama seat as I am contesting here after a gap of 25 years. I have not personally visited the blocks. However, my party workers predict a win for me and the winning margin they predict at around 4,000 to 5, 000,” he added.
