Bhubaneswar: Another Odia labourer injured in the blast inside a quarry in Kurnool of Andhra Pradesh succumbed to his injuries today. The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Nahak, a resident of Diandein village under Rambha police limits of Ganjam district.

Following today's death, the toll in the blast has now increased to 16 including four labourers from Odisha.  Two other labourers from Odisha, Pandab Bahak of Bada Gunjar village and Ramchandra of Bichanabala village are still undergoing treatment at Kurnool hospital.

Earlier, 3 labourers from Odisha had died and their bodies were consigned to flames at their native villages under Rambha police limits in Ganjam district late Monday night.

A pal of gloom descended on Bandhatala Nuagaon after bodies of Durjyadhana Nahak and Manoranjan Nahak reached their respective homes in a special ambulance.

Similarly, the body of another deceased Bhim Nahak also reached his native village at Radhagobindpur where the last rites were performed by his family members and villagers.

Meanwhile, the State Government on Sunday handed over Rs 10,000 to families of the deceased under the Harischandra Yojana.

On August 3, a massive explosion of detonators in the stone quarry at Hathi Belagal village under Aluru block of Kurnool district had left as many as 15 persons dead.

Following the incident, a non-bailable warrant was issued against the quarry owner Srinivasa Chowdhury who is stated to be a TDP leader.
