Bhubaneswar: Speaker of state Assembly Pradip Kumar Amat adjourned the House till 3pm on Friday as ruckus prevailed when both ruling BJD and the Opposition Congress members locked horns over Thursday’s violence during Congress rally.

The mudslinging began from the very beginning of the proceedings and both the parties came on each other heavily, that led to stalling of House. While the Congress members attacked the Naveen Patnaik government on the police excesses during their ‘peaceful rally’ at the Lower PMG square on Thursday, BJD MLAs lashed out at the Congress for its ‘brutality‘ on the lady cop which was too condemned by the national medias.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “Odisha is a peaceful state and I condemn the acts of violence by Congress workers during yesterday’s rally.”

Members of the ruling party staged a dharna inside the assembly campus holding anti-Congress placards and shouting slogans.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee has called for a statewide band on Monday protesting against the police excesses.
