Bhubaneswar: The Jharkhand Police has arrested a top official of the Hi-Tech Medical College on charges of defrauding a person of Rs 5 lakh.

As per the charges, Hi-Tech Medical College official, Tirpuati Choudhury had promised one Ramdhar Pautik of Bokaro area in Jharkhand to get an admission at the medical college and taken Rs 5 lakh from him in 2013.

However, Choudhury did not facilitate Pautik’s admission into MBBS course and neither did he return his money. Later, the complainant filed a case at his local police station in Jharkhand.

Based on a warrant, Dhanbad Govindpur police on Tuesday arrested Choudhury with the help of Bhubaneswar Saheed Nagar police from his office.

Sources said the police will produce Choudhury before a court and likely to take him on a transit remand today.

Earlier, Chodhury was arrested by the Odisha Crime Branch in a land fraud case.
