Sambalpur: Courts in Sambalpur district that have remained shut for the past five months due to the ongoing protests demanding a permanent HC bench in the region, will open from March 25. This was informed by the Sambalpur district lawyers’ association today following their general council meeting.

As the model code of conduct for the upcoming elections has been enforced in the state, the lawyers association has decided to go soft on their agitation. The judicial activities in the district will resume partially from March 25, informed association sources.

However, all types of affidavits can be filed from March 15 onwards, while land registration will begin from March 18 to provide emergency services till court proceedings commence on March 25.

"Notary and affidavit work will begin from March 15. People of the district have been facing difficulties. Court proceedings will resume soon," said Sureshswar Mishra, member of Central Action Committee (CAC).
