Koraput: It seems sufferings of Odisha farmers will never stop and no one even cares when they die due to crop loss. Adding to the number of alleged farmer suicide cases in Odisha, one more farmer reportedly took the extreme step here on Sunday.

The deceased farmer has been identified as Loknath Pangi of Maliguda village under Patangi police limits in Koraput district.

As per reports, Pangi consumed pesticides in his crop field and returned home and told his wife about the same. Soon, the family members rushed him to Patangi Community Health Centre but he died while undergoing treatment.

Unable to bear the mental pressure due to crop loss and debt burden, Pangi consumed poision, alleged family members. Besides, Pangi's wife has lodged a complaint in this connection.

Meanwhile, police could not be contacted on the issue.

On Saturday, a sharecropper (Gouranga Charan Kap) of Napang village allegedly committed suicide in Kendrapara due to crop loss caused by the recent Titli cyclone.

Similarly, on October 25, a farmer allegedly committed suicide in Ghambhariguda village in Koksara block of Kalahandi district by consuming poison. Another farmer had also taken the extreme step in Madiguda village under Bhabanipatna block in Kalahandi district on August 5.
