White Paper shows rising crime graph
Bhubaneswar: The Home department today tabled the White Paper-2014 on law and order situation in the State Assembly today which revealed that as many as 93,657 criminal cases were registered in Odisha during 2014 as compared to 90,184 in 2013.
According to the White Paper, rape cases in the State shoot up to 2011 in last year against 1832 in 2013.
Meanwhile, the murder cases in Odisha just fall marginally to 1450 in 2014 as compared to 1454 in 2013, the paper added.
However, a total of 554 dakaits, 1828 loot, 9,410 theft cases have been registered in 2014. As many as 76,156 have been charge sheeted, out of which 74% cases hasve been resolved, the paper presented.
Meanwhile, the paper noted that the State has witnessed a satisfactory development in controlling naxal violence in sensitive areas like Jajpur, Gajapati, Nuapada, Sundargarh, Deogarh and Sambalpur in 2014. As many as 99 Maoists including Nachika Linga surrendered before police this year, the report mentioned.
