College Girl Dies After Jilted Lover Slits Her Throat

Khurda: A college girl student died after being murderously attacked by a youth for allegedly rejecting his love proposal at Ganga Nagar village in  Balugaon area of the district.

Meanwhile, the accused youth who also reportedly belongs to the same village has been detained in connection with the incident.

Critically injured, the girl was immediately rushed to Berhampur MKCG Hospital but she was declared dead by the doctors.

Mother of the deceased girl alleged that, a youth of their village who had been repeatedly pursuing the girl to accept his love proposal despite protests is behind the incident.

"He had been repeatedly trying to lure my innocent daughter with love promises and also harass her often when she went to her college classes. Recently, she opened up about the matter following which I cautioned the youth to stay away from her. I suppose he must have murdered her," said the mother of the deceased girl.

"The accused threatened to slit her throat by holding a knife to her neck and before I could move, he pierced the sharp weapon. Thereafter he fled the spot," said the sister-in-law of the girl.

Police along with a team of forensic officials have initiated probe into the incident.
