Bhubaneswar: Coinciding with Utkal Divas, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated Commissionrate Police headquarters here.  

According to the data available with Police Housing Corporation, Rs 19 crore 66 lakhs have gone into the construction of the building.

Built on 1 lakh square feet area, this four-storeyed building has got excellent interiors costing Rs 7 crore.

“We have ensured optimum functional utility. The building is energy efficient and runs on solar power. Our offices will now operate from a single place. We have designed the building in such a way that would be convenient in serving the public,” Police Commissioner Bijay Kumar Sharma said.

“People will work at the comupterised work station. We have installed CCTvs everywhere. We have also installed boom barriers in the motorized gates to prevent suicidal attacks,” CMD, Orissa Police Housing Corporation Sudhansu Sarangi said.

Besides, a clock of Rs 6 lakh has been specially brought to adorn the new building that houses Commissionrate Police headquarters. With three gates in the building, the main gate is going to be remote-controlled.

The special building will house two courts and a conference hall with a capacity of 200 people.
