Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the devastating cyclonic storm Phailin and the subsequent floods that ravaged the state recently, the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) here has decided to postpone its semester examinations scheduled for next week.

According to an official notification, the III, V and VII semesters of B Tech., B. Pharma, MCA, MBA and B Arch courses for the year 2013-14 which were scheduled to start from 24th and 25th of this month have been postponed. The examinations will now start on November 4th and 5th, the notification said.

The detailed revised schedule for all the courses with fresh dates will however be displayed in BPUT’s official website for the convenience of students, it further said.
Appreciating the decision of the varsity authorities, students observed that it was really difficult to study and prepare for the examination for students especially belonging to flood-hit Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts.

“We appreciate the decision of the varsity authorities who have understood our genuine problems,” they said.

Notably on October 14, the students had handed over a memorandum to vice-chancellor J.K. Satpathy and technical education minister Pratap Kesari Deb to reschedule the semester examinations.
