Boy killed for witchcraft in Khurda district

Bhubaneswar: The body of a four-year-old boy, suspected to have been killed by two persons practicising black magic, was found on Monday in Khurda district.
The body was recovered from a hilltop near Khurda town, about 25 km from here. The police have arrested two persons in this connection.
"We suspect that the boy has been killed for the purpose of human sacrifice as the two persons arrested in this connection used to perform witchcraft," said Dayanidhi Gochhayat, the superintendent of police (SP), Khurda.
The persons arrested in this case were identified as Baidhar Singh and Sudarshan Singh of Nilgiri area of Balasore district, the SP said adding that the family members of the victim boy had lodged a missing case at Khurda Sadar Police Station earlier.
"My son was missing since Novemver 21. He was playing with friends near our house. Though all the children returned to their houses, my son was missing. Today his body was found at the hilltop," said Kulu Das, the father of the victim boy.
