Balasore: At least 150 persons were taken ill after consuming food at a marriage feast in Ranibasan village under Bhogarai block of the district on Thursday. Even the bride and the groom have been taken ill over suspected food poisoning.
According to sources, following marriage of a youth of the village on May 15 arrangements of feast were made for at least 500 guests. However, after the feast, several people were taken ill. While many complained of stomach pain, several others showed symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting.
As the health condition of most guests worsened, several of them were rushed to nearby PHC and later shifted to Jaleswar CHC.

“Around 15 to 20 people are undergoing treatment at Jaleswar CHC while 10 to 12 have been admitted to a nearby PHC. All the people have been admitted for treatment of diarrhoea and vomiting due to suspected food poisoning. We are monitoring the health condition of all,” said Sapan Nayak, doctor at Jaleswar CHC.
