Cuttack: In a tragic incident, three students died and one went missing in river Mahanadi here on Wednesday morning.
Sources said, the incident took place at around 10.30 am while six students from Bauxi Bazar had gone to Gadagadia Ghat to take bath.
According to eyewitnesses, while taking bath, four of them- Agrar, Salman Baux, Farzan and Salman Abdulla were swept away by the fast current of waters while Aslam, Sarfaraz managed to come out from the swollen river.
The locals immediately informed the fire brigade personnel who rescued three students and sent them to SCB Medical college for treatment. The missing student was untraceable till the filing of this report.
Meanwhile, doctors at the hospital declared the three students as brought dead. Among the dead, two students were from Police lane High School, Cuttack and one from Pyarimohan Academy.
