Bhubaneswar: Once again there is a buzz in Odisha over Prime Minister Narendra Modi contesting the upcoming 2019 elections from Puri Parliamentary constituency.

Such speculations were fuelled by West Bengal BJP Chief, Dilip Ghosh, who informed that such a proposal is already under discussion within the party.

Ghosh indicated that BJP National President Amit Shah may also contest from West Bengal.

It is not for the first time that such chatter of PM Modi contesting polls from Puri has surfaced in the media.

Earlier during the saffron party’s national executive meeting held in 2017 in Bhubaneswar, senior Odisha leaders of BJP had proposed PM Modi to contest from Puri. However, the top BJP brass of the party had refrained from commenting on the issue. BJP National President Amit Shah had subsequently clarified that ‘nothing was final yet.’

Many believe that BJP will go all guns blazing to achieve its ‘Mission 120’ plus seats in Odisha and if PM Modi contests from Puri, it will certainly boost party’s prospects and at the same time will ignite the spirits of party workers ahead of the crucial polls next year.

According to experts, BJP is on cloud nine after the recent poll surveys indicated that the saffron party would win 12 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha as compared to six by BJD and two by Congress.
