Detained foreigners taken to Puri, grilled

Puri: The two foreign nationals, who were arrested from Niali area of Cuttack district yesterday, have been brought to the city and are being interrogated by the local police here today.

After receiving an alert from Intelligence Bureau (IB), the State police had detained the two Russian citizens - Vasil Lu Fair and Maratha Galimur - and interrogated them about their activities in the State. Police questioned them from various angles for a long time and examined their passport and visa validity.

As the duo had stayed in Puri for last four days, they were shifted here for further investigation. Both were returning from Konark in a truck while some residents of Dina Singh Patana village informed the police about their suspected activities.

A team of Puri police went to Niali this morning and brought the suspects here for questioning, Puri SP Ashish Singh said. However, the cops here have neither any clue about the reasons of their visit to the pilgrim city nor any information about the hotel they stayed in.
