Bhubaneswar: At least ten labourers from different parts of Odisha, who had gone to work in Dubai after being lured by a company agent have been left stranded in the foreign shores for over a month now.

Narrating their ordeal through a video footage, the labourers have alleged that they are being tortured, and forced by the broker to work overtime without being paid any dues.

According to reports, two from Nayagarh district and eight labourers from other parts of the State decided to move to Dubai 11 months back to work in a company with an agent Anil Swain of Matapatana village in Balugaon who assured them Rs 35,000 salary a month. The two labourers who hail from Nayagarh district have been identified as Prakash Maharana and Guman Maharana of Kurudangi village under Godipada outpost.

The matter came to light after a video showing the plight of the labourers pleading for help from their families back home, went viral on social media platforms.

Worried with the circumstances, their family members back here in Odisha have knocked the doors of the administration seeking help in rescuing them.
