It is the election of people's representatives to the three-tier rural self governing bodies also known as Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Over 2.79 crore eligible voters to elect their representatives to 853 Zilla Parishad seats, 91,916 Wards and 6,794 Gram Panchayats across all the districts of Odisha during the democratic exercise.
Polling of votes to be carried out from 7 am to 1 pm in each of the five phases on February 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24.
For the first time, central counting of votes will be carried out at the block headquarters on February 26, 27 and 28 under CCTV surveillance.
As per the State Election Commission, counting for 315 Zilla Parishad zones will be conducted on February 26. Similarly, counting of votes for 307 and 229 ZP zones will be conducted on February 27 and 28, respectively.
Counting of votes for all other posts (Sarpanch, Samit member and Ward member) under a particular ZP zone, which will be going for the counting, will be done on the same day.
The three-tier Panchayat elections in Odisha will be held in five phases starting from February 16, 2022.

The Odisha government on Friday re-published the draft list of reservations for the post of Zilla Parishad (ZP) Presidents across the State ahead of the forthcoming elections to the Panchayat Elections.
