Youth arrested for posting intimate video with girlfriend on Facebook

Cuttack: Police have arrested a youth today for recording the intimate moments with his girlfriend and posting it on social media.

The accused has been identified as Debiprasad Bhoi of Salepur.

According to sources, the accused had met the girl on Facebook three years back and they were in a relationship. The accused also had developed physical relationship with the girl.

However, after their relationship turned sour, the accused created a fake account in the girl’s name and posted their personal video on Facebook.

Later, the victim lodged a complaint at the Mahila Police Station. After investigation, the police arrested the youth and directed him to delete the video from social media.

"A complaint was lodged against a youth for making an objectionable video viral. After investigation, the youth has been arrested and is being interrogated. We will take a call on how he can be forwarded to the court,” Cuttack DCP, Akhileswar Singh said.

Of late, there has been a spurt in incidents of objectionable videos being posted on social media.

Yesterday, a minor girl, who was allegedly raped, committed suicide under Jharigaon police limits of Nabarangpur district after the video of the act was made viral by the accused.

Similarly, another case was reported on Wednesday from Koraput district, where the ex-boyfriend of a newly-wed tribal woman made the video clip of their private moments viral and also sent the same to her husband.

A case has been registered against the youth. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and launched a manhunt to nab the accused, sources said.
