Dhenkanal: In a shocking incident, a woman died at Dhenkanal hospital of excessive bleeding after delivering a baby on Wednesday morning.

Family members of the woman, identified as Ranjita, wife of Bipini Mallick, resident of Anantapur village under Bhuban block, have alleged that lack of timely medical attention led to her death.

According to sources, after Ranjita complained of labour pain, her family members called the 102 ambulance to take her to the hospital. But Ranjita had to be taken to Bhuban hospital by an auto rickshaw as the ambulance failed to reach the village in time.

As the Bhuban hospital lacked the required treatment facilities, Ranjita was shifted to Mathakaragola hospital where she delivered a baby girl.

Family members said as her health condition deteriorated after the delivery, she was rushed to Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital where she died of excessive bleeding this morning, family sources added.
