Keonjhar: A tusker and a female elephant were killed last night when a goods train hit them in Champua range under Keonjhar forest division. According to sources, a herd of elephants was crossing the Banspani-Keonjhar railway track when a goods train hit them. While the elephants died on the spot, a baby elephant got injured in the incident.

Receiving information from the nearby villagers forest officials rescued the baby elephant and let it off inside the forest. According to the forest officials the elephant will be under health observation for 15 days.

Meanwhile forest officials have arrested Goutam Patel, driver of the train, that killed two jumbos.
