Student's Future Turns Bleak After Being Barred From Taking Exams In 2nd Yr

Cuttack: A Plus-II student's life turned upside down after a college he had reportedly been attending for the last two years, suddenly refused to accept him as a student during the 2nd year exams.

According to reports, Rakesh, a resident of Raisigunda village under Salepur block in Cuttack district, had taken admissions in the +2 Vocational Horticulture course of Jawaharlal Nehru College, Mahanga.

Though he had been attending classes for the past two years, he was allegedly barred by the authorities from sitting in the college examination citing that he is not a student of the college and his name is not registered.

Not knowing how to respond to the revelation made by his lecturer, Rakesh returned home and informed his father about this. Both Rakesh and his father Gaurahari Bhuyan went to the college next day, but they were sent back with the same response.

"I am unable to understand how Rakesh's name was not in the college register despite the fact that he has been issued college ID card and other necessary documents. He also has receipts of the college fees he has deposited in the first year. Rakesh is completely depressed now," a teary-eyed Gaurahari said.

Even the villagers have come in support of Rakesh seeking help from the government and the education department apart from demanding the college to allow him to appear in the exam.

On the other hand, the principal of Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pallab Chakraborty, said that the admission process is completely online, so they are presuming that this might have happened due to some technical glitch. I have already informed the concerned authorities about it and necessary steps would be taken after investigation, added Chakraborty.
