Puri: The seaside temple town is all set to greet over a million devotees on the occasion of annual rath yatra (car festival) here on Sunday.

For this, the district administration are leaving no stones unturned to ensure safe passage of the grand event where the three chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will be rolled out.

More than ten lakh devotees are expected to turn up for the festival and pull the chariots from the ‘Simha dwara’(Lion’s gate) to the Gundicha temple.

Security personnel, including the Rapid Action Force, are being deployed to maintain law and order. Besides, bomb disposal squad, surveillance system (close circuit cameras), dog squads, fire and ambulance services have been put in place to meet any eventuality.

Anticipating huge rush for the festival, ECoR (East Coast Railway) has decided to run 250 trains to and from Puri for the convenience of the passengers. As compared to last year, there has been an increase in 18 trains.
