Bhubaneswar: Two Odisha MLAs- Kishore Mohanty and Santosh Singh Saluja on Friday expressed concern over the selection of examination centres for the upcoming Plus II examination to be conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha.

Both the MLAs, who are also members of the examination committee of the Council, raised doubts over the transparency in selection of the exam centres and staged a walk out from committee meeting today.

“In the last meeting it was decided to select centres where no reports of malpractice or irregularities had surfaced last year. Today, the centres were to be finalised at the meeting. But we found that notification regarding fixation of examination centres was issued and list of centres was not given to us,” said BJD MLA Kishore Mohanty.

Mohanty further said that CHSE is an autonomous body and everything should have been done in a transparent manner.

“It was earlier decided to fix centre where there were no reports of irregularities, malpractice during conduct of Plus II exams last year. But unfortunately some staff of the CHSE have changed the examination centres after taking money,” said Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja.

Saluja further stated that there should not be any problem in selecting a college as a centre where there were no reports of irregularities. “In principle, it was decided to debar colleges basing on reports of malpractice or other irregularities. We will raise the issue in Odisha Assembly,” he added.

Deputy Controller of Examinations (CHSE) Prashant Das, on the other hand, refuted to comment on the issue by stating that the meeting was an internal matter of the council.

CHSE officials informed that the Plus II examinations will be conducted at 1142 centres across Odisha. Last year, the examination was conducted in 1097 centres.
