Cuttack: In yet another instance of neglecting girl child, parents of a new born baby girl abandoned their infant at the gynecology ward of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Saturday.
 
The district administration is taking care of the infant whose condition is well, hospital sources said.
 
The baby took born to Prabhati Behera and Banamali Behera of Ichhapur village in Cuttack district. The duo, who were with the baby till Friday, deserted the new born at the ward on Saturday evening, hospital authorities said, adding the district administration was informed regarding the matter. She was put on Special New Born Care Unit (SNCU), they added.
 
Meanwhile, district administartion ordered police to investigate the matter and trace the parents of the deserted baby. The hospital authorities was also directed to keep the baby under special care, sources said.
