Paradip: Body of a student, who went missing yesterday in the sea in Paradip during a cleaning programme near the beach, was recovered today.

The deceased has been identified as Anshuman Das, a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, whose body was fished out near Hanuman mandir. Yesterday, two other students were rescued in critical condition.

Reportedly, students of several schools along with activists and volunteers of various organisations had congregated to celebrate Swachh Bharat programme organised by Paradip Municipality on the beach.

The mishap took place during a meeting organised at the Beach Festival Mandap when the three students went deep into the sea while playing near the waters. Eye witnesses spotted the students crying for help and immediately informed the life guards.

A rescue operation was launched by CISF personnel, Fire Brigade as well as the local fishermen to trace the missing student.  During the rescue operation, six coast guard personnel had a narrow escape after their motor boat developed technical glitches and capsized in the sea.
