Sarpanch shot at, hospitalised

Khurdha: Sarapanch of Kuradhmalla gram panchayat here sustained bullet injuries after two bike-borne miscreants opened fire at him on Saturday evening.

Critically injured Dillip Samantsinghar was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The incident took place when the local leader was discussing about the regional issues with his supporters at panchayat office in the evening. Two miscreants opened two rounds of fire at him and fled the spot. The sarpanch's arm and chest suffered injuries.

Khurdha Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Jankia and Sadar police officials rushed to the spot and started investigation.

Meanwhile, family members of the victim alleged police inaction. "We do not have trust on police. They have done nothing even after our repeated complaints", Priyabrat Samantsinghar, Dillip's brother, said.
