Sambalpur: Students of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) on Thursday locked the gates of their college protesting against the absorption of Sardar Rajas medical college students in two government-run medical colleges.

Notably, the medicos of the VIMSAR are on protest since November 23 opposing the verdict of the Odisha High Court to absorb the students of Sardar Rajas medical college in two government medical colleges.

Meanwhile, Intensifying their protest against the absorption of Sardar Rajas medical college students in other medical colleges of the State, students of Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati (MKCG) Medical College, Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) and Hi Tech Medical College will take out a rally from Ram Mandir in Bhuabneswar on Thursday.

The medicos alleged that how can the students of Sardar Rajas Medical College be absorbed in their colleges despite having lower ranks. Besides, the students MKCG and VIMSAR colleges questioned the decision to accommodate the students of Sardar Rajas College when the two government-run medical colleges do not have adequate infrastructure facilities.

Meanwhile, Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak said, “We will abide by the directive of the Odisha High Court. According we will take step. We won’t let the studies of the medicos to be affected.”
