Bhubaneswar: With an aim to make Odisha more lucrative for aspiring investors, the State-based Hockey team ‘Kalinga Lancers’ has decided to carry a new logo on the jersey for their players in the upcoming Hockey India League (HIL) due to begin from 18th January, 2016.

The promotional campaign for the home team was inaugurated on Wednesday at IDCO Towers in Capital City in the presence of by Sanjay Kumar Singh, IAS, Managing Director, IDCO

Speaking on the occasions, franchise owner Sanjay Kumar Singh said, “A new jersey has been designed for our players with ‘Odisha: New Opportunity’ logo imprinted on it to promote the vibrant business opportunities the State can offer."

Besides, special vehicles are designed to take part in a road show in the Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar ahead of the HIL to attract maximum audience to the marquee event.

Kalinga Lancers have retained 6 players: the Indian troika of forwards Lalit Upadhyay, Devindar Sunil Walimiki and defender Gurjinder Singh, Australian National team goalkeeper Andrew Charter and defender Aran Zalewski, Indian national junior team’s defender and local hero Dipsan Tirkey.

National Player striker Dharamvir Singh and S K Uthappa have been purchased at this season’s auction. To promote state level hockey, three odia players Anand Lakra, Amit Rohidas and Stanli Victor Minz have also been purchased.

Germany’s Moritz Fuerste, who drew the highest ever bid in the history of the tournament, is most likely to captain the team.

Malak Singh, Pardeep Mor, Abhinav Kumar Pandey, England and Great Britain’s Adam Dixon, Netherlands’ Quirjlin Caspers, Australia’s Matthew Willis, Mathew Dawson and Glenn Turner form the rest of the team.
