The counting of votes will start tomorrow with three-layer security in place at the counting centres. No one will be allowed to take mobile phones into the centres, informed ADG (Law and Order) and State Election Nodal Officer Sanjay Kumar on Monday.

Addressing a presser, ADG Sanjay Kumar said, “The counting of votes for 21 Parliamentary and 147 Assembly constituencies will start from the morning tomorrow. There will be a three-tier security arrangement at the counting centres. While the CAPF will be in charge of the inner layer of security, the Special Armed Police of Odisha will be in charge of the second layer of security and the district police will ensure the third layer of security.”

“A total of 115 companies of force will be deployed at the counting centres. We have also provided 218 platoons of force to 34 districts including our police districts to maintain law and order. In the event of any law and order situation after the counting, the CAPF has been asked to chip in,” he said.

“As you know CCTV cameras have been installed at the counting centres for 24X7 surveillance, and there will be a power back-up facility at the counting centres. Most importantly, no mobile phones will be allowed into the counting centres,” he said adding special arrangements have been made for mediapersons to cover the counting.
