Chitrakonda: In a ghastly act, Maoists slit the throat of a sarpanch in Malkangiri district yesterday night.
The victim has been identified as Jayram Khara, sarpanch of Badapadar panchayat.
According to eyewitnesses, more than 10 armed ultras barged into Khara’s house last night, hit him on his head with a stick before slitting his throat with a sharp weapon.
After committing the crime, the ultras shouted slogans and then disappeared into the nearby forests, informed sources.
Notably, the incident occurred at a place quite close to a BSF camp.
