Cuttack: The Commissionerate police has formed two special teams to nab the assailants in the firing incident on Sunday in which a foreign liquor shop owner was killed at Brahmanajharilo under Sadar police limits.
Informing this to the media, Cuttack deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Sanjeev Arora said, “Two special teams have been constituted and they are conducting raids at several places to apprehend the accused. A case has been registered at Sadar police station in this regard.”
The DCP stated that the miscreants had kept a close watch on the activities of the deceased.
“It is suspected that they (culprits) knew about his activities before committing the crime. During investigation, we have got some clues and investigation is on based on these,” Arora said adding it was too early to talk about the involvement of any particular group in the incident.
Yesterday, Binod Behary Das (30) was fired at from close range by a customer while he was at the shop counterr. Two customers had apparently picked up a quarrel with Binod demanding free liquor, police officers said.
Binod had received three gunshot injuries and was immediately rushed to a private hospital here where he died while undergoing treatment.
