Bhubaneswar: Intensifying its probe into multi-crore chit fund scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday night questioned Dharmasala MLA Pranab Balabantray.

Sources said CBI quizzed the MLA about his links with AT Group on the basis of revealing by the company’s chief Pradeep Sethy during interrogation. Balabantray reached the probe agency’s office at 10. 30 pm last night and was present for around one and half hours.

“The central probe agency asked me about a deal with AT Group for a land in Jayadev Vihar in Bhubaneswar. I have submitted the relevant documents to the agency,” the MLA told media persons outside the CBI office.

However, sources said the probe agency was trying to find out whether the MLA has any other links with AT Group apart from the land deal.

AT Group chief Pradeep Sethy gave advance money through a broker to the MLA for purchase of the land MLA. But later it was found the MLA gave the power of attorney of the land to another broker and sold the plot to other person, sources added.

The agnecy that's how found a link between the MLA and AT Group and may have wanted to know how much money was paid by Sethy to Balabantray.

Notably, Balabantray is son of senior BJD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Kalpataru Das.
