Malkangiri: The proposed bridge on Saberi River to ensure connectivity to Malkangiri’s Motu, will be constructed by the Chhattisgarh government. The proposed bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs 30 crore and is aimed to be completed in two years. The bridge will connect Malkangiri’s Motu with Chhattishgarh’s Sukma.

Home secretary of Chhattisgarh, Police IG of Bastar, Sukma collector, SP and other senior officials have visited and reviewed the construction site.

“The work will start very soon. Though the actual deadline has been set at 34 months, we are planning to complete the work in 24 months,” said Sukma collector Niraj Banchhor.

Similarly, the prospects of completion of the bridge on Sileru River which will connect Motu with Andhra Pradesh as a part of the Ranchi-Vijayawada corridor, have improved.

Given the importance of the bridge, the State government had written to the Andhra Pradesh government to expedite the work. Recently, the Central government had handed over the responsibility of completion of the bridge to Andhra Pradesh government.

“The tender process has already started and the Andhra Pradesh government has sent their estimates to the Central government. After the estimation process ends, tenders will be invited soon,” said Odisha Public Works department secretary Nalinikant Pradhan.
