Brown sugar seized, one arrested

Bhubaneswar: A man was arrested and around 50 gram brown sugar seized from his possession at Haldipadia near Jharpada here during a raid by the intelligence wing of Excise Department on Monday.

The estimated price of the seized contraband is about Rs 10 lakh.

Arrested person has been identified as Mustaq Ahmed, hailing from Midnapore of West Bengal and was residing in Haldipadia slum, Excise officials said.

Mustaq allegedly brought the illegal items from his own locality and used to sell them in small packets in Bhubaneswar at a price of Rs 220 per packet, officials said.

Notably, Mustaq had been arrested earlier on similar charges by the Commissionerate Police.
