Criticism surrounds Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Heeramandi’ on Netflix, with Sharmin Segal's portrayal of Alamzeb drawing particularly harsh feedback for alleged lack of expression. However, amidst the uproar, Harshaali Malhotra, known for her role in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, seized the spotlight with a mesmerizing song performance that featured Segal's character.

Netizens flooded social media, praising her talent and suggesting she would have excelled in the role of Alamzeb instead.

Commenters echoed sentiments of admiration, expressing a desire for Harshaali to have been cast as Alamzeb, praising her expressive prowess as superior to Sharmin's performance.

A fan wrote, “I wish you did Alamzeb's role. The expressions you give are amazing,” while another fan commented, “She deserved Alamzeb role, she is rising star and beauty. It could have been start of her journey in industry. I wish her all the best” 

A third fan remarked, “She should have got the role of Alamzeb…Haye kya expressions hain.” In addition to this, one fan remarked, “Ur expressions were amazing than Sharmin”

Amidst the praise, Sharmin remained resilient, undeterred by the criticism, finding solace in her sister's support, who co-directed the series. Sharmin added that she vents out to her to keep her mental sanity.

She even disabled her comments section on her Instagram posts after facing a lot of backlash for her role as Alamzeb in Heeramandi. Heeramandi features Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha and Sanjeeda Shaikh in the lead roles.
